Schermond Coat of Arms
The Schermond Coat of Arms was found in my grandparents' belongings after they passed. Nobody knows the real story about it, but I think it is pretty cool. Recently, I started looking into my family's genealogy. My great-great-great grandfather was from Germany and his name was John Schmermond. No dates or details on the "original John," but his son Frederick was born in New York City in 1857. At some point, Frederick must have changed his last name, as his children were all given the last name Schermond. John and Frederick are very common names in my family, all the way down to myself, six generations later.
